Fox Hosts Art Show for ‘Book of Life’

THE BOOK OF LIFE

20th Century Fox hosted a private showing this week of art from their upcoming animated feature film The Book of Life. The event took place at the Ace Gallery in Los Angeles and  featured a display of concept art, sketches, and paintings that have helped define the look and feel of the film.

The film is written and directed by Jorge Gutierrez and is produced by 20th Century Fox in partnership with Dallas, Texas-based Reel FX Animation Studios. The CG-animated film is reported to have a stop-motion animated look and is inspired by the aesthetic, art, and tradition of the Day of Dead celebration.

THE BOOK OF LIFE

Here’s a synopsis of the film as reported by Animation Magazine:

[The Book of Life is a] comedy following a young man named Manolo, who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears.

The Book of Life is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on October 17th.
