Dr. Suess’ The Grinch Gets Reboot

It’s been 13 years since Jim Carrey donned the Grinch make up and ensured that children everywhere had a once beloved story turned into nightmare fuel. Feeling that enough time has passed, Universal and its animation division Illumination Entertainment are moving forward with a brand new CG animated take on Dr. Suess’ classic tale, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

This new outing will be directed by Peter Candeland, who has had quite a prolific career as an animator. Producing the film will be Illumination Entertainment CEO Chris Meledandri, who also produced 2008’s Horton Hears a Who! and last year’s The Lorax. Joining him in the production will be Audrey Geisel, Dr. Suess’ widow.

Personally, I don’t feel like we need another Grinch film. The original from 1966 is a genuine classic which is now available on Blu-Ray and I don’t see what giving it a modern CG makeover will really bring to the heart of it, but who knows? What do you guys and gals think? Let us know in the comments!

  1. I hated the Jim Carrey movie! And I’m glad in the sense that they’re making a new one, so hopefully it could be amazing and overshadow the Jim Carrey one. But I’m also not happy that they’re making a new one because of the disappointment I had when watching “The Lorax”. But we’ll see!
