Disney Channel Orders New Animated Series Star and the Forces of Evil

Disney Channel has ordered a new animated comedy adventure series tentatively titled Star and the Forces of Evil. Created by 2009 CalArts graduate Daron Nefcy (who has also worked on the upcoming Disney Channel series Wonder Over Yonder and the MAD animated series for Warner Bros.), the show follows the adventures of intergalactic teen princess Star Butterfly.

According to the press release:

Star and the Forces of Evil tells the stories of other-worldly teen princess Star Butterfly, who must settle in to her new Earthly home with the Diaz family. Soon she takes their teenage son, Marco, on adventures to help her battle evil villains, whether throughout the universe or in their high school, all in an effort to protect her powerful magic wand… which Star still figuring out how to use.”

The character of Star will be voiced by actress Eden Sher (who plays Sue Heck on ABC’s sitcom The Middle). Dave Wasson (The Buzz on Maggie, Making Fiends) is co-executive producer and director of the series and Jordana Arkin (Melissa and Joey, Will & Grace) is co-executive producer and story editor. The show is scheduled to debut on Disney Channel in fall 2014.
