“Never-Before-Seen” Mickey Mouse Short to Debut at Annecy

Walt Disney Animation Studios announced today that a “never-before-seen” Mickey Mouse short is set to debut this June at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, France. The short, entitled Get a Horse, “follows Mickey, his favorite gal pal Minnie Mouse and their friends Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow as they delight in a musical wagon ride until Peg-Leg Pete shows up and tries to run them off the road.”

It’s reported that the black-and-white short features Walt Disney himself as the voice of Mickey Mouse (which, as you know, he provided for many years). It is unclear if the short is newly discovered, a reworked version of a previously developed short at Disney, or something else altogether.

It is also unclear if Get a Horse is part of the revitalized Shorts Program at Walt Disney Animation Studios (aka Disney Feature Animation) or if it is part of the previously announced Mickey Mouse shorts series currently being produced by Walt Disney Television Animation.

We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
