Rovio Entertainment has announced that Jon Vitti will be the writer of the new Angry Birds CG animated comedy feature film currently under development. Vitti has an extensive Hollywood resume in both TV and film, serving as writer on Saturday Night Live, The Critic, The Larry Sanders Show, King of the Hill, Da Ali G Show, The Simpsons and The Office, along with being the screenwriter of The Simpsons Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
Also announced is that veteran producer Catherine Winder is joining the film’s production team, along with the previously announced team of David Maisel and John Cohen. Winder has previously worked at Lucasfilm Animation and Fox Animation.
The Angry Birds animated feature is launching into theaters July 1, 2016.
