D23, the official Disney fan club created and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company itself, recently revamped and relaunched their website. The site now includes a number of “members only” sections which require a D23 membership as well as site registration in order to access them. In conjunction with the new site, D23 is now offering a new free membership level which provides complete access to the website as well as access to exclusive D23 merchandise available at DisneyStore.com, access to other special D23 promotional offers and discounts, and an admission discount for the 2013 D23 Expo happening August 9 -11 in Anaheim, CA.
Still in place are the D23 Silver Membership ($34.99/year) and the D23 Gold Membership ($74.99/year) levels. A D23 Silver or D23 Gold membership are required to be eligible to sign up for most D23 events, such as tours of the Disney Studio Lot and Walt Disney Archives in Burbank, CA, and other D23 exclusive events at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. A breakdown of the three D23 membership levels and their benefits is available here.
In this video interview posted by Disney superfans Mousesteps/JeffLangeDVD, D23 marketing manager Jeffrey Epstein talks about the new D23 free membership level as well as benefits still in place for Silver and Gold members. He also gives a sneak peek about what’s in store for this year’s D23 Expo.
From the new D23 website:
“D23 is the official Disney fan club. Named in honor of the year 1923, when Walt left Kansas City, headed for Hollywood and founded what would become the Disney Studios, D23 celebrates the wonder and excitement that began that year and has only increased over the decades as Disney’s stories, characters, songs, and experiences have captured imaginations the world over.”
