This week’s new animated releases bring us a vast variety from beavers with anger issues to talking vegetables. Amongst these new releases we’re treated to The Angry Beavers: The Complete Series, Another: The Complete Collection, VeggieTales: MacLarry and the Stinky Cheese, Meet the Small Potatoes and our featured release Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.
Arguably DC Universe Animated’s most violent and adult installment yet, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox tells story in which The Flash’s ultimate nemesis, The Reverse-Flash, travels through time and changes an event of the past, resulting in a twisted vision of the DC universe.
This film contains some incredible voice acting talent featuring Ron Perlman, Nathan Fillion, and Dana Delany, with Kevin Conroy as Batman, who you may know from the Arkham series of video games and Batman: The Animated Series. Also available, Best Buy will be releasing an exclusive Reverse-Flash 3 3/4″ action figure with the Blu-ray packaging.
After nine years on the air, Shout! Factory will finally be bringing The Angry Beavers: The Complete Series to home video. Norbert and Daggett Beaver are two young brothers who leave their small home to become single bachelors in the Oregon forest. Boasting 22 hours of hilarity over ten disks, this set is a must-have for fans of 90s comedy.
Another: The Complete Collection is an anime that I’ve never heard of before, but instantly had me interested. Picture if Final Destination were turned into an anime, and you have a very close image of what we have here. A new transfer student in high school befriends a girl that nobody else seems to acknowledge. Secrets are unearthed that have changed the school and its students forever.
For those with children in mind, this week brings us VeggieTales: MacLarry & Stinky Cheese Battle. With a premise involving two long-feuding clans waging their wars through a series of pranks, this is sure to gather some big laughs. Picture a family friendly version of Braveheart with the morals and lessons that the VeggieTales films have become known for.
Finally, we have another family friendly animated feature with a big name in the cast. Malcolm McDowell’s Meet the Small Potatoes is a story of a few Idaho spuds who embark on a journey to become world-renown singing icons. This is definitely geared towards young kids, and is sure to get a great reaction.
