Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have announced that the release date for Minions, their Despicable Me spinoff film, has been moved from December 19, 2014 to July 10, 2015.
According to the Hollywood Reporter:
“Studio insiders say Universal was so happy with the July 2013 release date for Illumination’s ‘Despicable Me 2’ that it decided to open ‘Minions’ in roughly the same corridor. ‘Despicable 2’, debuting on July 2, has grossed a staggering $840.5 million to date.”
No other reasons were listed for the move. With the boatloads of money earned by Despicable Me 2 in July 2013, the month seems to be a pretty good one for the popular characters.

That is good and stuff. I really hope they do not milk this franchise to death though.
So this is postponed AND “The Good DInosaur” is postponed. So the only major animated films we have for 2014 are “HTTYD2” and “Big Hero 6”?
