Director Noah Baumbach Working on New Film for DreamWorks


Noah Baumbach is directing an upcoming adaptation of Berkeley Breathed’s Flawed Dogs for Dreamworks. Baumbach is a hot commodity right now, as his films Frances Ha and The Squid and the Whale were both great critical successes. He has already worked in animation, writing for Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and Fantastic Mr. Fox, which were also well received.

DreamWorks Animation Adds Chapman Library


DreamWorks Animation is continuing its recent string of content acquisitions by taking on the Chapman Entertainment Library, which includes pre-school-aimed fare such as Roary the Racing Car, Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, Fifi and the Flowertots, and Little Charley Bear.

‘The Good Dinosaur’ Moved to 2015, No Pixar Film for 2014


Recently we wrote about how Pixar had pulled director Bob Peterson off of their forthcoming film, The Good Dinosaur. Now comes news that the film (originally set for May 30, 2014) has been pushed to November 25th, 2015, the date Andrew Stanton’s Finding Dory was set to open on. That film will now open in the summer of 2016.

Disney Trying New Theater Viewing Concept with ‘The Little Mermaid –Second Screen Live’


In conjunction with the upcoming Diamond Edition release of the Disney animated classic The Little Mermaid, Disney is trying something new. It has created an event called The Little Mermaid – Second Screen Live where you are actually encouraged to bring your Apple iPad to the movie theater and then watch the movie while interacting with live streaming content on your iPad.

New 20th Anniversary Edition of ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Now Available


Walt Disney Home Entertainment has released a 20th anniversary edition of their stop-motion animation classic Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Two new versions are available: a three-disc set which includes the film on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD, and a digital copy and a two-disc set which includes the film on Blu-ray and DVD.
