Last Friday, Marcia Wallace passed away leaving behind an impressive career and millions of adoring fans. From her early success as Carol Kester on The Bob Newhart Show to her 25 year run on The Simpsons as everyone’s favorite fourth grade teacher, Edna Krabappel. Wallace was 70 at the time of her passing.

The showrunners for The Simpsons plan on retiring the character in honor of her passing, much as they did for Phil Hartman’s beloved characters Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz after his tragic passing.

This Sunday FOX plans to air the Season 3 classic, Bart The Lover, in honor of Marcia, whose voice work in that episode earned her an Emmy.

While the town of Springfield will certainly be less bright without her voice, Wallace has provided fans with a lifetime of quality work that will no doubt entertain and inspire for generations to come.

Kudos to youtuber Shekko4444 for compiling this montage of Edna’s wonderful laugh.
