Nominations for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual Golden Globe Awards were announced today in Hollywood, CA. The Golden Globe Awards have award categories for both television and film. Similar to the Academy Awards, they also have a Best Animated Feature Film category.
For this year’s Best Animated Feature Film award, only three films were nominated: Frozen (Walt Disney Animation Studios/Walt Disney Pictures), The Croods (DreamWorks Animation/20th Century Fox), and Despicable Me 2 (Illumination Entertainment/Universal Pictures).
The animated film The Wind Rises from Studio Ghibli (and distributed in the U.S. by Disney’s Touchstone Pictures label) has been nominated in the category of Best Foreign Language Film, along with four other live-action films.
The powerhouse ballad “Let It Go” from Frozen, written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, has also been nominated in the category of Best Original Song – Motion Picture.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association represents over 55 countries with a combined readership of more than 250 million. Their publications include leading newspapers and magazines in Europe, Asia, Australia/New Zealand and Latin America.
Congratulations and good luck to all of the nominees.
