Following on the heels of the Diamond Edition release of The Jungle Book on February 11, 2014, Walt Disney Home Entertainment is releasing the film’s sequel The Jungle Book 2 on Blu-ray on March 18, 2014.

Originally released in 2003 at the height of Disney’s direct-to-video (or “dreck-to-video” as I like to call it) phase, the film follows the continuing adventures of Mowgli and his human and animal friends. When Mowgli decides to run away from the man village to reunite in the jungle with his long-lost friends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther, he makes the frightening discovery that the villainous tiger Shere Khan is still alive. This time, he’ll enlist the help of both his new human family and his jungle buddies to “help save the day.”

The cheapquel’s production team enlisted the vocal talents of John Goodman as Baloo, Haley Joel Osment as Mowgli, Bob Joles as Bagheera, Tony Jay as Shere Khan, and pop singer and drummer Phil Collins as Lucky, among others. Bonus features on the Blu-ray include deleted scenes, music videos, and some “Backstage Disney” content (it’s unclear whether this is new content for the Blu-ray or the same content that was included on the film’s original direct-to-video release in 2003). The Blu-ray will include 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby Digital 2.0 for the English soundtrack and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound for the French and Spanish soundtracks.
