Walt Disney Animation Celebrates Its 90th Anniversary

90 Years Of Disney Animation Celebration

This year, Walt Disney Animation Studios is celebrating its 90th anniversary. To honor the momentous occasion, The Walt Disney Company recently held a private event on the Disney Studios lot in Burbank, CA. Attendees of the event were treated to a screening of Disney’s latest hit animated motion picture Frozen along with a cocktail party afterward hosted by Disney CEO Bob Iger, Disney Animation heads John Lasseter and Ed Catmull, and Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn.

The guest list was full of Disney Legends, artists, writers, musicians, and many others who have contributed to Disney Animation’s success over the years.

Disney’s enduring films continue to delight and influence audiences worldwide. John Lasseter said of Walt Disney’s work:

“His work was so beautiful and there was so much heart with appealing memorable characters. He was constantly pushing the technology of the storytelling and the music was so integral and special. More than any other film producer in history, what he produced is timeless. When you see up on the big screen a restored version of, say, ‘Bambi’, there is nothing about it that’s dated.”

Walt’s influence is still very much a presence today. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 53rd animated motion picture Frozen continues to dominate the U.S. box office, is enjoying high critical acclaim (it’s been designated as “Certified Fresh” by Rotten Tomatoes with an 88% Tomatometer rating, not to mention the high praise the film received from Animation Fascination’s own Jessica Wersky), and was just nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. And don’t forget that Animation Fascination is your home for all things Big Hero 6, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 54th animated motion picture currently in production and coming to theaters on November 7, 2014. 万歳 Banzai!
