Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment have been cranking out some compelling animated films for the home entertainment market. Coming in spring 2014 is the latest DC Universe Animated Original Movie entitled Son of Batman.
Based on the controversial comic book arc by Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert, the movie introduces Damian Wayne, the child that Bruce Wayne didn’t know he had. Damian just isn’t a surprise to Bruce Wayne/Batman; he’s a child with some serious skills and some serious attitude (he was raised in secret by the League of Assassins, who trained the young Mr. Wayne in their violent ways).
The film was directed by Ethan Spaulding (Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Avatar: The Last Airbender TV series, The Simpsons). It features the voice cast of Jason O’Mara as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Morena Baccarin as Talia al Ghul, Stuart Allan as Damian, David McCallum as Alfred, Giancarlo Esposito as Ra’s Al Ghul, and Thomas Gibson as Deathstroke.
While a formal release date has not been announced, the film is anticipated to debut on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download in the spring of 2014. It will make its debut at WonderCon Anaheim in April 2014.
