Lucasfilm Animation has released a new video on the Star Wars YouTube channel introducing Kanan, a new character in the Star Wars Rebels animated series coming this summer to Disney Channel and later to Disney XD. Voiced by actor Freddie Prinze, Jr., Kanan’s character introduction gives us another glimpse into what’s in store with the new story lines being created for Star Wars Rebels.
Executive producer Dave Filoni likes to call Kanan “the cowboy Jedi.” Forced into hiding due to the Emperor’s purge of the Jedi (aka “Order 66”), Kanan is equipped with some serious survival skills. He’s as comfortable with his gun as he is with his light saber. It also appears that Kanan is the leader of Ghost, one of the rebel starships highlighted in the new series.
Star Wars Rebels will debut as TV movie this summer on Disney Channel along with a series of short films. The regular series will debut later this fall on Disney XD. Stay tuned to Animation Fascination for all of the latest Star Wars Rebels news.
