As part of their mammoth original content deal with Netflix, DreamWorks Animation officially announced three new series currently in production that will debut in late 2014.
DreamWorks is creating a King Julien series based on the popular character from the Madagascar films. Also in production is Puss in Boots based on the character from the Shrek films and its own spin-off film. Finally, DreamWorks will create a new Veggie Tales series called Veggie Tales in the House (DreamWorks purchased Classic Media in 2012, owner of Big Idea, the group behind the faith-based Veggie Tales franchise).
Also in store for 2014 are more episodes of Turbo FAST. Five new episodes will be released this April with more on the way (26 total as reported by Variety).
Margie Cohn, head of TV animation at DreamWorks, said:
“We could not be having more fun as we create this content for Netflix. Each show is so diverse and the platform gives us so many opportunities to play with our characters in new and surprising ways. Our goal is to keep the audience always wondering what we’ll come up with next.”
