New character bios and a new trailer have been released for Disneytoon Studios’ upcoming sequel Planes: Fire and Rescue. The Disney Insider blog has the scoop on all of the new characters in the film.
Dusty Crophopper (voiced again by Dane Cook) is returning to the sequel along with some new friends, including park superintendent Cad Spinner (voiced by John Michael Higgins), mechanic tug Maru (voiced by Curtis Armstrong), tour bus Ol’ Jammer (voiced by Barry Corbin), fire truck Mayday (voiced by Hal Holbrook), specialty truck Ryker (voiced by Kevin Richardson), structural engine Pulaski (voiced by Patrick Warburton), fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voiced by Ed Harris), water scooper plane Dipper (voiced by Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (voiced by Wes Studi), ex-military transport plane Cabbie (voiced by Dale Dye), the “Smokejumpers team (voiced by Regina King, Corri English, Bryan Callen, Danny Pardo, and Matt Jones), RVs Harvey and Winnie (voiced by Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara), the Secretary of the Interior (voiced by Fred Willard), and helicopter cop Nick “Loop’n” Lopez (voiced by Erik Estrada).
The new trailer, now available on Disney.com, shows all of the new characters in action. A new poster for the film has been released in the UK as well.

‘Planes: Fire & Rescue’ is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world-famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous team, including spirited super scooper Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Disneytoon Studios’ Planes: Fire and Rescue is directed by Bobs Gannaway (Secret of the Wings, Stitch! The Movie). Look for it in 3D in U.S. theaters on July 18th.
