What if 8-bit video games invaded the human world? We’re not talking a Wreck-It Ralph sequel here; we’re talking about the new film coming next summer from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison production shingle. Called Pixels, the film tells the story an alien invasion that decides to invade Earth in the form of classic 1980s video game characters.
The new hybrid live-action/CG comedy feature is based on a short film by the same title. The short was written and directed by Patrick Jean.
Pixels will be directed by Chris Columbus with a script by Tim Herlihy and Tim Dowling. Set to star in the film are Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monaghan, and, of course, Adam Sandler. Pixels is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on May 15th, 2015.
