Get ready to scream the secret word because Pee-wee’s Playhouse: The Complete Series is coming to Blu-ray on October 21st from Shout! Factory. The 8-disc set will feature all 45 episodes of the TV show along with the great Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special.
As you may recall, multiple types of animation played a big role on the series, including stop-motion animation done by Peter Lord and his team. The new box set will include an “Animating the Playhouse” special feature which has an interview with animation supervisor Prudence Fenton along with Peter Lord and David Sproxton.
In addition to discussing the animation used in the series, the set includes nine other special features which include interviews with actors Laurence Fishburne (Cowboy Curtis), S. Epatha Merkerson (Reba the mail lady), Lynne Marie Stewart (Miss Yvonne), and John Paragon (Jambi the genie). Also included are interviews with composers Mark Mothersbaugh and Danny Elfman, along with members of the show’s innovative production design team.
