Rovio and Sony Pictures have released the names of the voice cast for their upcoming Angry Birds feature film currently in production.
Joining the voice cast will be a large group of comedy greats, including Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Peter Dinklage, Keegan-Michael Key, Kate McKinnon and Tony Hale, among others.
Here’s the character rundown:
- Red (Jason Sudeikis), a bird with a temper problem
- Chuck (Josh Gad), a speedy bird
- Bomb (Danny McBride), a volatile bird
- Pig (Bill Hader)
- Matilda (Maya Rudolph)
- Mighty Eagle (Peter Dinklage)
Additional members of the cast are Ike Barinholtz, Hannibal Buress, Cristela Alonzo, Jillian Bell, Danielle Brooks, and singer Romeo Santos.
The film’s producer John Cohen said,
“I’m extremely proud of this cast. Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny, Bill, Maya, and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they’re surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent – these are some of the funniest people out there today, and we’re thrilled to have them all on board.”
Directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly, the CG-animated film is being made by Sony Pictures Imageworks based in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
Mark your calendars: the Angry Birds feature is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on July 1st, 2016.
