Our friends over at Pixar Post are reporting that a new Cars Toon short will be released in 2015 and it sounds like its going to be a lot of fun. To Protect and Serve tells the story of how two police rookies take their burgeoning authority a bit too far with our friends in Radiator Springs.
Here’s the official synopsis:
When Sheriff takes a mandatory vacation, two overzealous rookies from County take over his duties in Radiator Springs. Bent on making a good impression to score commendations, the rookies over-do every aspect of their jobs, finding “crimes” at every turn and turning the quiet little town into a hotbed of taped-off crime scenes. No one is safe and everyone’s a suspect until Sheriff senses an imbalance and returns home to right the “justice” that’s been served.
The best news about the short is the vocal talent. In addition to many of the Cars regulars returning, including Owen Wilson (Lightning McQueen), Larry the Cable Guy (Mater), Bonnie Hunt (Sally), Tony Shalhoub (Luigi), Michael Wallace (Sheriff), and Cheech Martin (Ramone), two new voices will be added to the short’s cast—Aziz Ansari will be the voice of police car Mike 07 and Wendi McLendon-Covey will be the voice of police car Didi 05.
To Protect and Serve is being directed by Scott Morse, co-directed by Rob Gibbs, and produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle and Mary Alice Drumm.
