Going “Rogue” With ‘Assassin’s Creed: Rogue’ – What you need to know before November 11th

Assassin's Creed Rogue

The Holiday gaming season is just around the corner with new titles like Pokemon: Omega Ruby and many others coming out. Today I am here to focus on one of my most anticipated titles of the holiday season, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue.

Assassin’s Creed: Rogue is the direct follow-up to 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag which is part of the “New World” trilogy or Kenway Trilogy that began in Assassin’s Creed III. In Rogue, players take on the role of Shay Cormac who is an assassin at the beginning of the game and is betrayed by the order he swore his life to. Shay receives help from a familiar face in Haytham Kenway (son of Edward from ACIV and father of Connor from ACIII). Haytham is a member of the Templar order and a sworn enemy of the assassins. Shay’s path takes him all over the North Atlantic and into New York as well as parts of Canada.

Assassin's Creed Unity

One of my favorite things from the last two games makes a triumphant return is the naval combat feature. It was refreshing to sail around in ACIV and just take on enemy ships and try to board them and take prisoners and supplies and it looks like it is coming back in a big way with AC: Rogue. Another aspect of the game that excites me is being able to play as an Assassin hunter and see the world from the perspective of the Templars. Going after Adewale from ACIV and Achilles from ACIII really is exciting but knowing that I won’t be able to kill Achilles because he has to show up in ACIII to train Connor is kind of a bummer.

Rumor also has it that there will be some ties to Assassin’s Creed: Unity which is being released the same day but we won’t know what those ties are until we get our hands on the game on November 11th.
