“The fairest one of all” is making its way out of the Disney vault and back on store shelves (both digital and physical) with the upcoming re-release of Disney Animation’s first animated motion picture Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Available for the first time on Digital HD and again on Blu-ray (the film’s most recent Blu-ray release was its “Diamond Edition” in 2009), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first title under Disney’s new “Walt Disney Signature Collection.” This collection will include new packaging along with new bonus features and digital experiences.

Bonus features include (and may vary by retailer):

  •  In Walt’s Words: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – For the first time ever, hear Walt himself talk about the creation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
  • Iconography – Explore how this film influences pop culture, art, and fashion.
  • @DisneyAnimation: Designing Disney’s First Princess – Modern day Disney artists discuss the design of Snow White and how it influenced the look of some of your favorite Disney characters. This is one of my favorite new features on most recent releases of films from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
  • The Fairest Facts of Them All: 7 Facts You May Now Know About Snow White – Disney Channel star Sofia Carson reveals seven intriguing facts about Snow White.
  • Snow White in Seventy Seconds – Rap along with this hip reimagining of the story. (This sounds scary, but I’m probably not the target audience.)
  • Alternate Sequence: The Prince Meets Snow White – A never–before-seen story board sequence where the Prince meets Snow White.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be available on Digital HD platforms, including Disney Movies Anywhere, on January 19th and on Blu-ray February 2nd. You can even follow Snow White on Facebook, too.

And for all of you Snow White and Disney Animation fans out there, make sure to check out Behind the Magic: The Making of Snow White and Seven Dwarfs which will air this Sunday evening, December 13th, on ABC (check your local listings).

According to Disney Animation’s Animation Research Library (ARL) Facebook page, the special will feature interviews with people who worked on the 1937 film along with interviews and commentary from experts at the ARL and Walt Disney Archives.

Narrated by Ginnifer Goodwin (from the ABC series Once Upon a Time and the voice of Judy Hopps in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming feature Zootopia), the special also includes interviews with many of the talented people working today at the Walt Disney Animation Studios, including John Lasseter, Jennifer Lee, Chris Buck, Byon Howard, Eric Goldberg, Mark Henn, and others. We will definitely be checking it out.
