The talented filmmakers at LAIKA have put together a very cool reel to honor the 10th anniversary of their studio.
LAIKA aspires “to make films that are bold, distinctive, and enduring,” according to president and CEO Travis Knight. He stated:
“We are committed to telling stories that are thematically challenging, aesthetically beautiful, emotionally resonant, and a wee bit subversive. By combining stop-motion animation with cutting-edge creative approaches, we’ve embraced the fusion of art and craft and technology, honoring tradition while looking toward the future.”
The studios’ films, which include Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls, have all raised the bar for stop-motion animation. Next up for the studio is the original stop-motion animated feature Kubo and the Two Strings, also directed by Travis Knight, which is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters in August 2016.
Congrats to our friends at LAIKA on this wonderful milestone!
