Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, has a new animated comedy called Disenchantment in the works for Netflix.
According to Variety, the series is described as "an adult fantasy about a crumbling medieval kingdom known as Dreamland." The main character is a "hard-drinking princess" named Bean (voiced by Abbi Jacobson), her elf companion Elfo (voiced by Nat Faxon), and her own “personal demon” Luci (voiced by Eric Andre).
Matt Groening said about the new series:
"Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.
Groening and Josh Weinstein are the executive producers for the series. The animation will be produced by Rough Draft Studios, which worked with Groening on Futurama.
Netflix has ordered 20 episodes of the series. The first ten episodes are targeted to be released in 2018.
