Is T.J. Miller Joining the Voice Cast of ‘Big Hero 6’

Reports have been surfacing that comedian T.J. Miller is going to be voicing the character Fred in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming film Big Hero 6. Miller himself shared the information on his Twitter feed along with a link to the cool Big Hero 6 “first look” video of San Fransokyo. The tweet has since been removed. Nothing has been officially announced from Disney yet about the casting of Fred or any other role in the film (and we wonder if the folks at Disney made him remove the tweet).

The Walt Disney Studios is moving forward with another feature film version of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. This time, the film is going to be a hybrid live-action/CG film directed by Jon Favreau. British actor Idris Elba is in final talks to voice the villainous tiger Shere Khan. No other casting decisions have been announced. Elba should be a terrific choice for the character who was famously voiced in the 1967 Disney animated feature by the great character actor George Sanders.

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures’ upcoming raunchy animated feature Sausage Party has announced the initial members of its voice cast. Providing voices to the film are Seth Rogen (who is also one of the screenwriters along with frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg), James Franco, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, David Krumholz, Nick Kroll, Edward Norton, and, ending the voice cast sausage party, Kristen Wiig.

20th Century Fox Animation and Reel FX Animation Studios just announced the star-
studded ensemble for their upcoming animated comedy The Book of Life. Channing Tatum, Zoë Saldana, Diego Luna, Christina Applegate, Ice Cube, Kate del Castillo and Ron Perlman will star with Cheech Marin, Hector Elizondo, Placido Domingo, Ana de la Reguera (Nacho Libre, Eastbound and Down), Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included), comedian Gabriel Iglesias (Stand-Up Revolution), radio personality Ricardo (“El Mandril”) Sanchez, and Danny Trejo (Machete) rounding out the bunch.

At Friday’s “Art and Imagination: Animation at The Walt Disney Studios” presentation, chief creative officer John Lasseter was the host for a 3+ hour presentation on the current slate of films at Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disneytoon Studios. The Pixar slate was presented first and the crowd (myself included) was completely wowed by the clips shown by the Pixar filmmakers.
