Pixar veteran and Monsters University director Dan Scanlon got the chance of a lifetime on Thanksgiving Day to be part of the balloon handling team of the Buzz Lightyear balloon at the 87th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Over the weekend, the Dartmouth Film Society based out of Dartmouth College awarded Pixar Animation Studios with its Dartmouth Film Award. Established in 1979, the Dartmouth Film Award honors outstanding contributors to the world of film and filmmaking. Other recipients include Robert Redford, Johnny Depp, Ken Burns, and Meryl Streep, among others.
The Hollywood Film Awards announced this week that Pixar Animation Studios’ Monsters University is the recipient of their Hollywood Film Animation Award.
This October get ready to head back to college as Pixar’s fourteenth feature film, Monsters University, hits Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and Digital HD 3D. Yesterday I was lucky enough to get tickets to an early screening of Pixar’s latest feature, Monsters University, the prequel to their 2001 blockbuster Monsters, Inc. As I made my way along London’s Southbank towards the British Film Institute, my excitement grew as this wasn’t just a screening of the film but also a Q&A session with the film’s producer Kori Rae and its director Dan Scanlon.

This new trailer really shows the heart of the film and judging just by the footage shown, we’re in for another emotional roller coaster that only Pixar can pull off so masterfully. Pixar has released the details for the monstrously fun music that will be part of this summer’s Monsters University. From the music that we’ll hear when seeing the film, to the film’s official original soundtrack album, to the music that will be included in the attached short The Blue Umbrella, it sounds like the film will definitely be a feast for the ears along with the eyes and funny bone.
A special advanced screening of Pixar’s Monsters University will take place at the 2013 Los Angeles Film Festival in, shockingly, Los Angeles, CA, on Tuesday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets and festival passes are being sold through the Los Angeles Film Festival website. Let us know if you go!
