We’re excited about the news from Walt Disney Animation Studios today announcing their selection of the actress who will voice the title character of their 56th animated motion picture Moana.
Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially announced the release dates of its next two animated feature films, both of which will be arriving in U.S. theaters in 2016.
This year’s Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, just completed another successful event full of screenings, lectures, and networking along with an animated feature and short film competition. Held September 17-21, 2014, the OIAF is one of the largest animation festivals in North America. Over 28,000 attended the this year’s festival.
We’ve been piecing together some different rumors along with some new art that could be from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming feature Moana. As we previously posted this past summer, Blue Sky Disney reported that directors Ron Clements and John Musker will be directing the film and that it’s an original story set in Polynesia. The prevailing rumor is that Moana is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “untitled” release set for March 9, 2018.
In conjunction with the upcoming Diamond Edition release of the Disney animated classic The Little Mermaid, Disney is trying something new. It has created an event called The Little Mermaid – Second Screen Live where you are actually encouraged to bring your Apple iPad to the movie theater and then watch the movie while interacting with live streaming content on your iPad.

The rumors are flying about what’s next for Walt Disney Animation Studios after 2013’s Frozen. While Disney has announced an “untitled” film from Walt Disney Animation Studios is set to be released November 2014, no additional information has been officially released.
