Review: Disney Animation’s Beautiful ‘Short Films Collection’ Is a Must-Own for Fans

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new Short Films Collection is truly a stunner. The collection, which is now available on Digital HD platforms and will be available on Blu-ray August 18th, includes 12 of the studios’ animated short films made between the years 2000–2015. While some shorts are fairly new and have been recently seen in theaters, other titles are older and more obscure. Overall, it’s just great to have all of these beloved shorts in one combined and winsome collection.

Disney’s ‘Feast’ Short Debuts at Annecy Festival

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new short film Feast made its debut this week at the 2014 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The six-minute short tells the story of “one man’s love life as seen through the eyes of his best friend and dog, Winston [a Boston Terrier], and revealed bite by bite through the meals they share.”

‘Big Hero 6’: Disney and Marvel Working Together

Author’s Note: We at Animation Fascination are fascinated with all things Big Hero 6, Walt Disney Animation Studios‘ 54th animated motion picture currently in production. We will be regularly publishing articles about the project and about the filmmakers. Today’s article discusses the origins of the project and Marvel’s involvement.

When The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel in 2009, speculation ran rampant about what Marvel property would be the first to receive the full Disney animated treatment. It took almost four years for an announcement to come and it turned out to be a bit of a doozy. The first collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Marvel is an obscure comic title from the Marvel archives called Big Hero 6. Now, the film has been introduced to the public, is currently in production, and has an official release date—November 7, 2014.
