Top Ten Most Fascinating Animated Characters: Number 2

Maybe this is the point when I lose some of you—when my odd nineties-geared proclivities prove just a little too much. Nevertheless, I have to be honest with myself and the truth is that this character had me from episode one: “Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and the gorilla starts throwing barrels at you!” With his response to finding out he is “the most important person in the universe,” Philip J. Fry responds, “Oh, snap,” which somehow perfectly exemplifies my unrepentant fascination with him. Oozing with characteristic Matt Groening humor, Futurama is loud, endlessly thought-provoking and offers some of the most boorish, idiotic, endearing protagonists on television, with the cryogenically frozen delivery boy from New York being my all-time favorite.

Top Ten Most Fascinating Animated Characters: Number 8

So far in this list of the ten most fascinating original characters in animation history, we have seen a little boy, Norman from ParaNorman, animated using very advanced, gorgeous, stop-motion animation and a far-out space ranger, Buzz Lightyear, a character from the first fully computer animated feature whose design and overall character appeal continues to dazzle audiences twenty years later. However, number 8 on the list did not enter the spotlight in such an aesthetically appealing fashion.  D’oh!

FXX Network Now Playing Every Episode of ‘The Simpsons’ Through Labor Day

FXX Network (the spin-off of the FX Network) has started showing a continuous marathon of The Simpsons. Over a 12-day period from August 21st to September 1st, FXX will show every single episode of the long-running animated series, along with The Simpsons Movie from 2007. That means all 522 episodes (plus the movie) will play over 278 continuous hours.

You Only Live Twice, ‘Futurama’ Cancelled

‘Bad news everyone’ Futurama has been cancelled… again. The Annie Award, Emmy Award winning, animated sitcom is to face the chop from their facilitating channel Comedy Central. This is the second time the show has met its maker after Fox cancelled the show back in 2003. The team bounced back, with four straight-to-DVD movies, which Comedy Central aired as a 5th season. Due to its popularity, Comedy Central revived the series and since then we have had 2 more series. This includes the 7th series, due to air its last 13 episodes in June of this year.
