Yesterday I began to contemplate specific aspects of character development in animation and my musings have turned into a series of articles—namely, analyzing which animated characters from history are the most fascinating. First, as any Socratic thinker knows, I have to define my terms: by fascinating characters, I mean interesting—in and of themselves. These characters attract as much attention—or more—than the plot, itself. They are like disco balls (or train wrecks in some cases)—you can’t not watch them.

40th Annual Annie Awards Round-Up!

Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph was the big winner at last night’s 40th Annual Annie Awards, bringing home a total of four awards, including Best Writing, Best Directing and Best Animated Feature.

ParaNormanone of last year’s most beloved films here at Animation Fascination, came away with two awards, both revolving around character design and both, in our opinion, rightfully deserved. We were also happy to see Tron: Uprising win a couple of awards, although they are slightly bittersweet what with the show’s recent cancellation.
