Legendary Hollywood star Mickey Rooney passed away on April 6, 2014, at the age of 93. The short (he was 5 ft. 3 in.) but larger-than-life actor starred in 200+ films, along with many television shows, plays, tours, and specials.
A few days ago, we lost an animation icon in Arthur Rankin, Jr, who died at his home in Bermuda. With his partner, Jules Bass, Rankin/Bass Productions gave the world some of its most memorable, endearing animation such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town and The Last Unicorn.
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, the stop-motion animated TV Christmas special, is still a ratings winner. The special, which aired this year on CBS on November 26, 2013, drew a higher rating with the 18-49 demographic than the finale of Dancing with the Stars on ABC.
