After what has seemed like 10,000 years (which can give you such a crick in the neck, as you know), Aladdin, one of our favorite film’s from Disney Animation’s second golden age, has finally been released in the U.S.A. in glorious HD.
This year’s Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, just completed another successful event full of screenings, lectures, and networking along with an animated feature and short film competition. Held September 17-21, 2014, the OIAF is one of the largest animation festivals in North America. Over 28,000 attended the this year’s festival.
We’ve been piecing together some different rumors along with some new art that could be from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming feature Moana. As we previously posted this past summer, Blue Sky Disney reported that directors Ron Clements and John Musker will be directing the film and that it’s an original story set in Polynesia. The prevailing rumor is that Moana is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “untitled” release set for March 9, 2018.
In conjunction with the upcoming Diamond Edition release of the Disney animated classic The Little Mermaid, Disney is trying something new. It has created an event called The Little Mermaid – Second Screen Live where you are actually encouraged to bring your Apple iPad to the movie theater and then watch the movie while interacting with live streaming content on your iPad.
When Disney announced most recently their upcoming animation slate through 2018 for both Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios, there were multiple release dates with “untitled” films attached to them.
