Sony Pictures Entertainment and Rovio Entertertaiment debuted a teaser trailer for their upcoming animated feature film based on the popular Angry Birds game.
Rovio, the Finnish app-makers-turned- cartoon-makers-turned-movie- makers behind everyone’s favorite time-waster, Angry Birds, have announced two animation veterans as the co-directors for their upcoming feature about said furious fowl: Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly.
Rovio Entertainment has announced that Jon Vitti will be the writer of the new Angry Birds CG animated comedy feature film currently under development. Vitti has an extensive Hollywood resume in both TV and film, serving as writer on Saturday Night Live, The Critic, The Larry Sanders Show, King of the Hill, Da Ali G Show, The Simpsons and The Office, along with being the screenwriter of The Simpsons Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
Rovio Entertainment has selected Sony Pictures Entertainment as their global marketing and distribution partner for the new Angry Birds animated motion picture currently under development. The 3D animated comedy will be released worldwide by Sony Pictures on July 1, 2016. David Maisel (Iron Man) has been named as executive producer for the film along with John Cohen (Despicable Me) as producer.
Angry Birds Toons, the new animated series based on the hit mobile app game, has started its world-wide rollout. The series is now available to watch via the actual Angry Birds mobile app—just look for the “Toons” channel button in the updated version of the app.
