At Friday’s “Art and Imagination: Animation at The Walt Disney Studios” presentation, chief creative officer John Lasseter was the host for a 3+ hour presentation on the current slate of films at Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disneytoon Studios. The Pixar slate was presented first and the crowd (myself included) was completely wowed by the clips shown by the Pixar filmmakers.

As previously announced, the animation presentation happening at Disney’s D23 Expo 2013 sounds like it’s going to rule.  Disney has just announced more details of who will be appearing during the presentation along with other animation-related events happening throughout the weekend. The D23 Expo 2013 takes place August 9 -11, 2013 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.

The presentation will take place at 10:00 a.m. PDT on Friday, August 9, 2013 in the arena of the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.

Bill Farmer to Voice Character in an Upcoming Pixar Film

The voice of Disney’s infamous, turtle neck wearing hound, legendary voice talent Bill Farmer, will be putting his talents to work on one of Pixar’s up-and-coming films. The star tweeted this morning:

Disney Screens ‘Monsters University’ at CinemaCon, Makes Other Cool Announcements

Attendees at The Walt Disney Studios’ CinemaCon presentation yesterday were treated to a screening of a full, unfinished cut of Pixar’s Monsters University. Director Dan Scanlon was in attendance and told the audience that they were some of the first people outside of Pixar to see the film. While I’m sure they’ve been embargoed from saying much, those attendees who did comment on Twitter and on their various news sites and blogs all had positive things to say about the film. Needless to say, all of us at Animation Fascination wished we were in attendance, but we’ll have to wait along with the rest of the U.S. to see Monsters University when it arrives in theaters on June 21.

Thomas Newman Writing the Musical Score for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur

Film score composer Thomas Newman revealed in a speech this week in Syracuse, New York that he is writing the score for Pixar’s 2014 feature The Good Dinosaur. Newman’s speech was part of the Film Talk Series, a Syracuse Film Festival program co-sponsored by Le Moyne College and Syracuse University.
