On Saturday, April 6th, Nickelodeon will premiere Monster Vs. Aliens as an ongoing television series. The show is scheduled for 26 first season episodes and is based on the 2009 DreamWorks Animation Studios Film of the same name.
Before the series premiere in April, Nickelodeon will air a special half-hour series introduction on March 23rd immediately following the 2013 Kids Choice Awards. The special premiere is called Welcome to Are Fifty-Something, and according to IGN.com, will feature Team Monster facing off against an alien impersonating the president.
Monster Vs. Aliens was a “monster” hit for DreamWorks Animation grossing over $380 million worldwide. The TV series will continue the exploits of Team Monster (B.O.B, Link, Dr. Cockroach and Susan a.k.a. Ginormica) as they protect the earth from aliens. This show represents the third time that Nickelodeon and DreamWorks Animation have teamed up for a television series based off a an animated movie (series based off Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda both came before).
