Postman Pat, the UK’s long-running stop-motion animated TV series, is getting turned into a CG animated feature-length film. Postman Pat – The Movie tells the story of how everyone’s favorite postman enters a national TV talent show (think Britain’s Got Talent) which could change his life forever. The new trailer for the film is now online, check it out after the jump…

Here’s the synopsis for Postman Pat – The Movie:

The film finds Pat, everyone’s favorite postman, coming face-to-face with the temptations of money, status and a shiny new suit when he enters a national TV talent show competition that threatens to tear him away from his hometown of Greendale and the friends he loves. What happens when kindness meets selfishness?  When local fame meets global notoriety?  A nice cup of tea is kicked aside by a frappe cappuccino? Pat is set to find out as he falls for the age-old temptation of the grass being greener…

Produced by Classic Media and RGH Entertainment and directed by Mike Disa (Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil), the film features the voice talents of Stephen Mangan (Rush, TV’s Episodes and Dirk Gently) who is the voice of Postman Pat on the big screen, along with actors Jim Broadbent (Cloud Atlas, Harry Potter film series, Moulin Rouge!), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter film series), and David Tennant (TV’s Doctor Who, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, How to Train Your Dragon).

Postman Pat – The Movie makes its UK debut on May 23, 2014. No word on if/when the film will receive a theatrical release in the U.S.
