Over more than a year ago the Argentinian site JPosters leaked early character one-sheets of Anna and Elsa from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen. Well history has repeated itself and six character centric posters have appeared on their site for Disney’s next animated feature, Big Hero 6!
So June 29, 2007 doesn’t sound like that long ago, but along with being the release date of Pixar’s 8th feature film, Ratatouille, this was also the day that the first iPhone came out. Crazy, right? I can’t imagine life without iPhones—and I can’t imagine a Pixar repertoire without Remy and Linguini. Not since Lady and the Tramp’s spaghetti scene has such delectable food and atmosphere been shown in an animated film. However, it wasn’t always peaches and cream for this culinary classic.

And according to statements following a press event and soft opening this weekend, the new mini-land modeled after Ratatouille in the Walt Disney Studios Park of Disneyland Paris is a remarkable addition to Disney’s repertoire (French, get it?)
The 2014 Annecy International Animation Film Festival has wrapped up for the year. One of the many cool things that happened there was a presentation from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Artists discussed Disney’s upcoming short Feast and also their upcoming animated feature film Big Hero 6.
We’re all having withdrawals this summer without a new movie from Pixar Animation Studios to enjoy. Our friends at Pixar must be feeling our pain, because they’ve been releasing some information about things to look forward to in 2015. This week, Pixar announced the new short that will be shown in front of Inside Out next summer entitled Lava.
We’ve read reports this week of a new live-action reboot of Scooby-Doo! that is currently in development at Warner Bros. Really, the only actual news about the reboot is that screenwriter Randall Green has been hired. No news about director, producer, cast, etc., has been made available.
Boy and the World (O Menino e o Mundo) took home the Cristal Award for a Feature Film at the 2014 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Directed by Brazilian artist Alê Abreu, the hand-drawn animated film tells the story of a fatherless boy who leaves his village “to discover a world dominated by animal machines and strange beings” and shows an interpretation of the problems of the world through the eyes of a child.
American Top 40 radio host and animation voice artist Casey Kasem passed away on U.S. Father’s Day, June 15, 2014. According to the Los Angeles Times, Kasem died in a hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and a form of dementia. His passing occurred after an ongoing and highly publicized fight over his health care between his three adult children (all from his first marriage to Linda Meyers) and his second wife, Jean Thompson Kasem.
