Cool Off This Summer at Disneyland: ‘Frozen’ Added to Soundsational Parade

Full disclosure for those who don’t know—I work at the Happiest Place on Earth. One of my roles there is guest control for Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, which is the parade currently running at Disneyland. It is a cute parade with a “musical celebration” theme tying the floats together. I’ve seen it about 15,000 times now and I have to admit that I still really enjoy it. It’s no Parade of Dreams, but it’s really fun. A few days ago, Disney Parks officially announced that they will be adding a pre-parade float to the Soundsational mix starring Arendelle’s sweethearts, Anna, Elsa and Olaf. Let the madness begin.

John Lasseter Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree from CalArts

The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) bestowed John Lasseter, animation director and chief creative officer of Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios, with an honorary doctorate degree. Lasseter received the CalArts’ 2014 honorary Doctor of Arts degree “in celebration of his originality, creativity and extraordinary contributions to the art of animation and contemporary filmmaking.” Lasseter received the honor from CalArts president Steven Lavine in a ceremony held on May 16, 2014.

Disney Debuts New ‘Big Hero 6’ Teaser Poster

After months of silence since last August’s D23 Expo, Walt Disney Animation Studios has started its official marketing campaign for its 54th animated motion picture Big Hero 6. With this week’s article in USA Today including new information and stills from the film and a new teaser set to debut on May 22nd, Disney fans were also treated to a new and very cool teaser poster. High in Japanese style (and also showing that Baymax’s armor has awesome jet packs in its shoes), it’s great to see the campaign launched.
