Our friends at Walt Disney Home Entertainment have shared with us their annual holiday gift guide featuring Disney’s latest Blu-ray and DVD releases. Are any of these animated titles on your shopping list this year?
DreamWorks Animation announced today that they have begun preproduction on an animated film based off the New York Times Bestseller, Captain Underpants book series by author Dav Pilkey.
We’re one month away from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ latest feature Frozen opening in U.S. theaters. Lots is going on in preparation for the November 27 release of the film. Check out a brief recap of the latest happenings this week after the jump…
Bleeding Cool has published a new teaser poster for Pixar Animation Studios’ 2015 feature The Good Dinosaur. The poster, which is watermarked with the random Argentinean movie poster site “JPosters.com.ar” definitely has a Pixar look and feel to it. Whether it’s truly legitimate or not is anyone’s guess (we trust Bleeding Cool, but are unsure about JPosters.com.ar).
DreamWorks Animation Studios has released the first official full-length trailer for their much-anticipated animated film, Mr. Peabody & Sherman.
The 3D film, directed by Rob Minkoff (Disney’s The Lion King) and starring the voice talents of Ty Burrell (TV’s Modern Family) as Mr. Peabody and Max Charles (TV’s Neighbors) as his boy, Sherman, among many others, is based on the classic Jay Ward Studios segments that were part of the Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle TV series.
The newest trailer for Constantin Films and Reinhard Klooss’ Tarzan 3D was released this week and while it looks more interesting than it did a year ago, the animation definitely leaves much to be desired. Of course, the fact that Kellan Lutz (Twilight) stars as the lead has already garnered buzz aplenty on sites not usually known for their advocacy of animation. The plot seems to be the most interesting aspect of the German-produced take on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic story.
The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) has published a list of the “101 Best Written TV Series”, honoring the outstanding creativity and writing from television’s inception to today’s massive landscape of channels and programs. Out of the 101, two animated series made the list: The Simpsons and South Park.
Fox and Blue Sky are working on a 3-D CG rendition of the classic comic strip and cartoon Peanuts for release November 25, 2015. So far, Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift, Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who) is set to direct and it was just announced that Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat, TV’s Freaks and Geeks) will produce. Schulz’s son Craig and grandson Bryan co-wrote the screenplay, which marks the first resurrection of the franchise into a feature since 1980.
The hit online series Bravest Warriors began its second season this month on the Cartoon Hangover YouTube channel.
Created by screenwriter, animator, and producer Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time) and produced by Frederator Studios, Bravest Warriors “chronicles the out-of-this-world futuristic adventures of four teenaged costumed heroes as they warp through the universe to save adorable aliens. Joined by fan favorite characters Catbug and Impossibear, the Bravest Warriors split their time between intergalactic adventures and hanging out in their invisible giant robot hideout.”
