This review does include spoilers, so if you haven’t seen the film—go see it!
The anticipation for Disney’s 53rd feature-length Animated film has been over-the-top in some realms and under whelming in others. I told all my friends and family over the last few days that I was going to see Frozen (yay!) and only a small percentage knew what the heck I was yapping about. So, forbid me to question the geniuses at Disney marketing, but for whatever reason, I’m not 100% sure how many people will turn out this opening weekend. In my theater at the “midnight” (9pm) showing, there were 7 of us. I’m sure it will succeed, though—or at least I hope it will because this was definitely a film worth going to see.
The movie studios are spreading lots of holiday cheer this year by releasing new animated films and series on Blu-ray just in time for the big gift giving season. Available for viewing on the Disney Parks YouTube channel the short was created by Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group. Check it out after the jump…
While Marvel Studios’ latest hit Thor: The Dark World isn’t an animated film per se, Marvel has partnered with mobile device maker Huawei on a very funny animated short starring everybody’s favorite Asgardians Thor and Loki.
We’re just days away from the U.S. release of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 53rd animated motion picture Frozen. More and more people have seen the film, more and more interviews with the filmmakers have been published, and more and more excitement is building around the film’s release. Here are some noteworthy things for you to check out. Also note that this is a spoiler-free zone (I haven’t seen the film yet myself).
We at Animation Fascination wish to pay our respects to Diane Disney Miller, the eldest daughter of Walt Disney who passed away on November 19, 2013 at age 79. Many beautiful tributes have been written about Diane over the past few days. We hope you’ll take the time to search them out and learn more about this remarkable woman.
Eighteen years ago, the world of animation changed irrevocably. The self-starters at the little animation company that produced (awesome) Listerine and Life Savers commercials had more up their sleeves than just realistic 3D rendering for the likes of George Lucas. Pixar’s Toy Story came out November 22, 1995 and the film’s reception couldn’t have been better if Shakespeare and Walt Disney produced a film scored by Beethoven and The Beatles.
As previously announced, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 19th animated motion picture The Jungle Book is coming to Blu-ray on February 11, 2014. This is the first time on Blu-ray for this film, which is the last animated feature that Walt Disney himself personally worked on before his death in 1966.
The Walt Disney Company’s forever young symbol and star Mickey Mouse turns 85 today. As we all know, Mickey’s theatrical debut was in the short film Steamboat Willie which premiered in New York City on November 18, 1928.
