Produced by Relativity Media and Reel FX, Free Birds tells the story of “two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks who must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history – and get turkey off the holiday menu for good.”

New Mickey Mouse Cartoon Shorts Debut on Disney Channel

Disney is rolling out their new 2D Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts series on Disney Channel starting the weekend of June 28-30, 2013 (8:30 p.m. ET/PT). Disney gave us a sneak peek of the series last March with the short “Croissant de Triomphe”. Now available for viewing on Disney.com is a brand new short called “No Service”. New shorts will be premiering every Friday through July. The shorts will also be available to view on the WATCH Disney Channel mobile app, iTunes, and a new “Mickey Video Player” mobile app (which we haven’t been able to find yet, at least not on the Apple App Store) after their Disney Channel premieres.

D23 Relaunches Website and Offers New Free Membership Level

D23, the official Disney fan club created and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company itself, recently revamped and relaunched their website. The site now includes a number of “members only” sections which require a D23 membership as well as site registration in order to access them. In conjunction with the new site, D23 is now offering a new free membership level which provides complete access to the website as well as access to exclusive D23 merchandise available at DisneyStore.com, access to other special D23 promotional offers and discounts, and an admission discount for the 2013 D23 Expo happening August 9 -11 in Anaheim, CA.

‘Get a Horse!’ Demonstrates Disney History, Artistry and Innovation

‘Despicable Me 2’ Is Enthusiastically Received at Annecy

We’ve heard word that the screening of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me 2 at the Annecy International Film Festival was a success. According to reports, the film received a “Cannes-like” standing ovation from the enthusiastic crowd of industry employees and animation fans attending the festival. The film’s directors Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud were also in attendance at the screening.

Melissa McCarthy Goes ‘B.O.O.’

Deadline is reporting that actress Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, TV’s Mike and Molly, The Heat) has joined the voice cast of DreamWorks Animation’s B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations. McCarthy joins Seth Rogen (Monsters vs. AliensKnocked Up, This Is the End) in this CG animated comedy that is being directed by Anthony Leondis (Igor).
