Big Hero 6, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 54th animated motion picture, is an action-packed mashup of animated sci-fi movie going goodness. Combining a comic book/manga sensibility with some of the best action sequences ever in an animated movie along with tremendous authenticity and heart-felt emotion, the film delivers on all fronts.
As we all know, the idea of putting “Easter Eggs” in films isn’t new. And the talented folks at Disney Animation have been doing it for years (not to mention what’s in store for us in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 54th animated feature Big Hero 6 opening on November 7th).
The 15th Annual VIEW computer graphics conference is scheduled to be held October 14th-17th, 2014 in Turin, Italy. Just announced is that legendary animator Glen Keane will be giving a keynote address at the conference.
It looks like we’re getting another holiday gift from the artists at Disney; this time, it’s the talented folks at Walt Disney Animation Studios doing the gift giving. On the official Disney Animation Tumblr blog, artists from Walt Disney Animation Studios are posting a custom holiday character sketch every day for 12 days (from December 14 to December 25) as part of their “12 Days of Disney Animation” celebration. This year, Walt Disney Animation Studios is celebrating its 90th anniversary. To honor the momentous occasion, The Walt Disney Company recently held a private event on the Disney Studios lot in Burbank, CA. Attendees of the event were treated to a screening of Disney’s latest hit animated motion picture Frozen along with a cocktail party afterward hosted by Disney CEO Bob Iger, Disney Animation heads John Lasseter and Ed Catmull, and Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn.
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 53rd animated motion picture Frozen opened up in a big way in the U.S. over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Taking in an estimated $66.7 million over the three-day weekend and an estimated $93 million over the five-day period (the film opened on a Wednesday), the film overtook the Thanksgiving weekend animated film opening box office records previously set by Pixar Animation Studios’ Toy Story 2 in 1999 ($80.1 million) and Disney’s Tangled in 2010 ($68.7 million) over the same five-day period.

In celebration of its 60th anniversary, Disney is bringing its much beloved classic, Peter Pan, to the High Definition world with a wonderful Blu-ray package.
