Voice Cast Announced for ‘Angry Birds’ Feature

Rovio and Sony Pictures have released the names of the voice cast for their upcoming Angry Birds feature film currently in production.

Smurfin’ Around: Sony Moves ‘Goosebumps’ to 2015, ‘Smurfs’ to 2016

Sony announced Thursday that they will be pushing back the release date for their third installment of The Smurfs franchise from August 2015 to August 2016. They are consequently pulling Goosebumps, the feature based on the popular 90’s R.L. Stine books, up from March 2016 to August 2015.

‘Barbie – The Movie’ in Development

After countless animated direct-to-video features, Mattel’s perennially best-selling doll Barbie is getting her own live action feature. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures and Mattel along with production company Parkes+MacDonald ImageNation are putting together the team for the new live action comedy.

Funny men Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have received the greenlight from Sony Pictures Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures for an R-rated, full-length (no pun intended) animated motion picture entitled Sausage Party.

‘Captain Planet’ to Save The Planet in Live Action

Sony Pictures is in negotiation to bring the 1990’s favorite environmental superhero cartoon to the big screen. Captain Planet and the Planeteers, which ran from 1990 to 1992, is being prepped for a live action adaptation under the watchful eyes of veteran producers Don Murphy (Transformers), Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan), and Susan Montford (Reel Steel), according to a story published by The Hollywood Reporter.

Writer and Additional Producer Named for ‘Angry Birds’ Feature Film

Rovio Entertainment has announced that Jon Vitti will be the writer of the new Angry Birds CG animated comedy feature film currently under development. Vitti has an extensive Hollywood resume in both TV and film, serving as writer on Saturday Night Live, The Critic, The Larry Sanders Show, King of the Hill, Da Ali G Show, The Simpsons and The Office, along with being the screenwriter of The Simpsons Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

‘Angry Birds’ Feature Film to Be Distributed Worldwide by Sony

Rovio Entertainment has selected Sony Pictures Entertainment as their global marketing and distribution partner for the new Angry Birds animated motion picture currently under development. The 3D animated comedy will be released worldwide by Sony Pictures on July 1, 2016. David Maisel (Iron Man) has been named as executive producer for the film along with John Cohen (Despicable Me) as producer.
